The oak is often held to be the noblest, strongest and ‘wisest’ of trees. Ancient Scots believed that oak trees offered the way to true enlightenment – the old word for oak is ‘duir’, or ‘door’. It is fitting, then, that Scotch whisky can only be matured in casks made from this, the grandest of trees. Aged for 24 years in hand selected casks - a marriage of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks.
